D I S T R I C T

The school district where this study took place is the second largest public school district in the city. This district has 26 elementary schools and serves approximately 24,000 students

Boundaries set in my community for my school district are continuously changing and growing over time. Due to these changes, enrollment numbers and families will vary among schools in the district. Students are able to opt-in and out of schools across the district.

There are 21 students in the class where this study took place. There are 12 girls and 9 boys.

Out of the 21 students, 4 students did not attend preschool or a structured school setting before attending kindergarten. This was significant to notice at the beginning of the year when comparing students' social-emotional development.

When looking at cultural backgrounds, 3 out of the 21 students are African-American, 1 student is Hispanic, and the rest are White.
